ANTHEM PERIO, LAS VEGAS' CHOICE FOR ADVANCED PERIODONTICS

Missing several teeth can affect more than just the appearance of your smile—it can change the way you chew, speak, and care for your oral health. When teeth are missing for an extended period of time, the surrounding teeth may begin to shift, the bite may become uneven, and the jawbone in the area may begin to deteriorate. A dental implant bridge is a reliable treatment option for patients who are missing multiple teeth and want a stable and natural-looking replacement that doesn’t involve the use of removable dentures.

A dental implant bridge is similar to a traditional dental bridge in that it replaces a row of missing teeth with prosthetic teeth. The difference is in how the bridge is supported. Instead of being anchored to nearby natural teeth, an implant bridge is secured to dental implants that are placed in the jawbone. These implants act as artificial roots, and they provide a strong foundation for the bridge once they have fused with the surrounding bone.

At Anthem Periodontics and Dental Implants, we offer advanced implant dentistry for patients who want to restore function, improve appearance, and protect their long-term oral health.

Dental implant bridges may be recommended for patients who are missing several teeth in one area and want a fixed replacement option that looks and feels more like natural teeth.

Benefits of a Dental Implant Bridge

A dental implant bridge can provide a strong and natural-looking solution for patients who are missing multiple teeth. Because the bridge is supported by implants, it doesn’t need to be attached to nearby healthy teeth. This allows the replacement teeth to be secured directly to the jaw, helping restore function and stability.

Patients who receive a dental implant bridge may benefit in the following ways:

  • Replaces multiple missing teeth
  • Restores chewing and speaking ability
  • Provides a fixed, non-removable replacement option
  • Helps improve the appearance of your smile
  • Feels more stable than a removable partial denture
  • Does not rely on neighboring teeth for support
  • Helps prevent surrounding teeth from shifting
  • Supports a more balanced bite
  • Can help preserve jawbone health in the treated area
  • Provides a natural look and feel
  • Can be easier to live with than removable appliances
  • May provide long-lasting results with proper care

For many patients, one of the biggest advantages of an implant bridge is stability. Removable partial dentures can move while eating or speaking, which may cause discomfort or make certain foods difficult to eat and enjoy. A dental implant bridge is designed to remain securely in place, allowing patients to bite, chew, and smile with greater confidence.

A dental implant bridge can also help in maintaining the integrity of the surrounding teeth. With a traditional bridge, nearby teeth often need to be reshaped to support crowns. With an implant-supported bridge, the replacement teeth are supported by implants instead. This may help preserve the structure of adjacent, healthy teeth.

The Dental Implant Bridge Procedure

An initial consultation and examination will be needed to determine if a dental implant bridge is the right treatment option for you. During this visit, we’ll review your health history, discuss your concerns and goals, and examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Diagnostic imaging may also be taken to evaluate bone volume, bone density, and the location of important structures such as nerves and sinuses.

If it is determined that a dental implant bridge is appropriate, your treatment plan will be created based on how many teeth are missing, the condition of your jawbone, and your overall oral health. Some patients may have enough healthy bone to support implants right away, while others may need bone grafting or other preparatory treatment before implant placement.

During the implant placement procedure, local anesthetic and/or sedation may be used to ensure comfort. The dental implants are then placed. After placement, the area is allowed time to heal while the implants integrate with the bone. This healing period is important because it allows the implants to become stable enough to support the final bridge.

In some cases, a temporary restoration may be provided while the implants heal. Once the implants have fully integrated and the surrounding tissue is healthy, the final bridge can be attached. Your bite will be checked to make sure the bridge feels comfortable and functions properly. Once this is complete, you can begin enjoying a restored smile with improved strength, appearance, and stability.

Who Is a Candidate for a Dental Implant Bridge?

A dental implant bridge may be recommended for patients who are missing two or more teeth in the same area. Good candidates typically have healthy gums, sufficient jawbone to support implants, and a commitment to maintaining good oral hygiene. Because dental implants depend on the health of the surrounding bone and gum tissue, existing periodontal disease or infection may need to be treated before implant placement.

You may be a candidate for a dental implant bridge if you:

  • Are missing multiple teeth in one area
  • Want a fixed alternative to a removable partial denture
  • Have healthy gums or are willing to treat gum disease first
  • Have enough jawbone to support dental implants
  • Want to avoid reshaping nearby healthy teeth when possible
  • Are looking for a stable, natural-looking tooth replacement option
  • Are willing to maintain regular dental visits and proper home care

Even if you have been told in the past that you do not have enough bone for dental implants, you may still have options. Bone grafting, sinus lift procedures, or other treatments may be recommended to rebuild the area and create a stronger foundation for implant placement. During your consultation, Dr. De Andrade and our team will explain your options and help determine the best approach for your needs.
