Implant Supported Dentures IN LAS VEGAS & HENDERSON, NV
ANTHEM PERIO, LAS VEGAS' CHOICE FOR ADVANCED PERIODONTICS
Implant supported dentures are a safe and effective option for patients who are missing several or all of their teeth, including those who currently have traditional dentures and are unhappy with them. Treatment begins with the placement of titanium implant posts in the jawbone. As the area heals, the implants gradually fuse with the surrounding bone, creating a stable foundation for a removable or fixed denture.
Implant supported dentures can restore the ability to chew, improve the appearance of the smile, and provide greater stability than traditional dentures. They may also help preserve the jawbone and reduce complications associated with long-term tooth loss. Because the denture is anchored to dental implants, patients are less likely to experience slipping, shifting, discomfort, or the dietary limitations commonly associated with conventional dentures.

- Improved aesthetic appearance results in increased self-confidence

- Stops bone loss
The Implant Supported Dentures Procedure
An initial consultation and general examination will be necessary to determine if implant supported dentures are the right treatment option for you. During this visit, we will review your health history, discuss your oral health concerns and goals, and examine your teeth, gums, and cheeks to determine your overall health and identify any underlying issues. Following this examination, we will explain available treatment options and answer any questions you have.
If it is determined that implant supported dentures are the optimal solution, your follow-up appointment will begin with administration of a local anesthetic and/or sedation. Next, titanium posts will be placed in your jawbone, after which the area will be stitched shut and allowed time to heal and for the posts to integrate with the jawbone. While waiting for this fusion to take place, you will be provided with temporary dentures. Once the posts have fully integrated, the dentures will be placed, and your bite will be tested to ensure the fit is correct. Once this is determined, the procedure will be complete, and you can begin to enjoy your restored, healthy smile!

Aftercare Following Implant Supported Dentures
Once the implant supported denture procedure is complete, we will provide post-operative instructions to ensure that you minimize your risk of developing complications and enjoy a fast recovery time. It is especially important to avoid foods or beverages that are extremely cold or hot and avoid strenuous activity following the procedure. It is also common to experience sensitivity and swelling following the procedure, but this can typically be managed using ice packs and over-the-counter pain-relieving medication. If you are prescribed pain-relieving medication and/or antibiotics, it is essential to follow the recommended dose until the prescription runs out.
Once you have fully recovered, you can return to your normal diet and self-care practices, such as brushing your teeth twice daily (at a minimum) for at least two minutes each time, flossing at least once a day, and being mindful of the type of foods and beverages you consume. If your implant supported denture is removable, be sure to remove your denture at night. Once removed, clean the denture thoroughly with soap and water and a denture brush, then place the denture in water. Taking these extra steps will ensure that you maintain good oral health and preserve the integrity of your implant supported dentures.
Finally, continuing to schedule regular checkups every six months (or more if necessary) is the most important step you can take to maintain your oral health and identify and correct issues before they develop into something more significant. By following these best practices, you will maximize the longevity of your implants and continue to enjoy good oral health!
